Eric and Jacob Sprinkle
Each year, MSP & my brother Jeremy McDowell, along with Royals Gold Glove/World Series Champion outfielder Alex Gordon, host the “Alex Gordon Classic” baseball tourney, held at Mid-America Sports Complex. Last year, I was asked to emcee this event, where teams partner with ‘Alex’s Lemonade Stand’ to raise $ for pediatric cancer research. 2015 total: $34,000!!
At this tourney, I had the honor of meeting Eric Sprinkle, head coach of the 11U NBA team out of Olathe, KS. His son, Jacob, was unable to attend the event due to his battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Early in the year, he had rib pain, and was found to have a large tumor in his chest. He was only able to Facetime Alex Gordon on his dads’ phone-he was too weak to leave his bed, stricken with an immune system down to almost ZERO….
This year, I have the same honor of emceeing the event, but not only that…to see Jacob PLAY in the tourney!! And this year…he will get to meet his HERO, Alex Gordon, in person!!
Join me as I interview JACOB SPRINKLE and his dad, coach ERIC SPRINKLE! Meet the little hero who stared cancer in the face and not only beat it, but is helping raise money for other kids facing the same fight!!
….it’s all about perspective…..
